Companies House has announced that obtaining a Companies House Personal Code through the identity verification process will soon become a legal requirement for all company directors and persons with significant control (PSCs). This applies to both UK residents and non-UK residents.
As a registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) with Companies House, Britannia Accounting is officially authorised to carry out identity verification checks and request Companies House Personal Codes for company directors and PSCs — even if they are not existing clients.
These new Personal Codes will be essential for directors and PSCs to update their details, file documents, and remain compliant with Companies House requirements. Please note, the Personal Code is different from the existing Companies House web filing code.

Required Documents for ID Verification
1) Passport
A clear photo of the passport page showing your picture and details.
All four edges/corners of the passport page must be visible (do not crop or cut).
Make sure the image is not blurry, dark, or reflective.
2) Selfie with Passport
- A recent selfie of you holding the same passport next to your face.
- Your full face and passport details must be clearly visible in the picture.
- Do not use filters, sunglasses, or anything that hides your face.
3) Proof of Address (any one of the following)
The document must clearly show your full legal name (same as on your passport).
It can be from any country, but must be current and readable. Accepted documents include:
- Utility Bill (Electricity, Water, Gas, Internet, etc.)
- Personal Bank Statement
- Tax Document or Government-Issued Letter
